blank space before text in table cell!!!

I have a format file for my title block. I have table files for the information (drw name, scale, date, etc..). If I change the text width factor (from default) in the individaul cells (for the text to fit the cell) it automatically adds a blank space to the front of the text. So, every time I add the text in my drawings I have to delete this space before typing which is very annoying. Is there a reason for this space and most importantly, how can I get rid of it?
