Applying colours to surface

Good morning all,

May be a small one, but i cant sort this out.. help me !!!

I want to apply some different colour on different surfaces of the assy.
I want colour to be applied on the assy level & not in the part level..

you'll need to assembly copy the surfaces you want to indicate, afaik that's the only way to do it.

in the assembly make a copy of the surface you want to change and apply the colour by choosing asm surfaces or quilts. I've copied and offset the lower surface to prevent the problem with coincident surfaces. this process will be a problem depending on how much you have to do but I'm not aware of another method.
