I'm having trouble adding planes to imported step files in order to create views. These are round parts with no flat surfaces. Can anyone offer advice?
If the part has a coordinate system you can use that to create the planes.
If it doesn't then:
Create an axis using one of the round surfaces.
Use that axis, plus a point created at the intersection of that axis and the round surface to create a plane.
Next create a sketch using that plane that contains two geometry axes orthognal to each other. Exit the sketch.
You can then use each axis in turn to create your other planes that are normal to the first plane you created.
