Dell Crash, now stuck with complete reins

Bill,
Not to be a wise guy as we all know that hindsight is 20-20. I use an image backup weekly, I'm not on a network. A few times a year I also image my HD to a second HD in my desktop.

In your case I would strongly suggest a RAID system. In that you would get a warning and be allowed to replace the failing component which the system will rebuild.

Hard disks are so cheap now. If you really want a SSD, I would use it just for the OS and programs keep your data on your local HD and the network store.

So here's the update on this little situation. Dell came out and took care of
the faulty drive, but they had no idea what to do with Solidworks and a lot of
other programs. I suppose it's not their fault, they deal with hardware... but I
took Phil's suggestion and called Solidbox and 30 minutes later, I was ready
to roll and SW has never run smoother. So, thanks, Phil, everything you said
was correct about Solidbox. I didn't buy a new computer, but I think I
know where I'm going when I do. My fingers are crossed that I won't need an
upgrade this year though.
