Lenovo T400 vs. W500

I am about to purchase a new laptop for my education as a
mechanical engineer. I have to choose between to
different laptops. The one is a Lenovo T400 with 4GB RAM,
2.54GHz core 2 duo and a swichable ATI Mobility Radeon HD
3450 graphics card. The other machine I have, is a W500
with a 2.8 GHz core 2 duo I believe, 4GB RAM and it has a
ATI Mobility FireGL V5700 graphics card. I know that the
W500 is CAD certified but the question is will the T400
do the job too? I am not going to draw large sized
constructions, probably small and maybe medium sized
stuff. If both the machines will do, would I like to know
where the T400 is on a scale from 1 to 10 where the W500
is 10.

- Thanks!

Doesn't the Dell also have a Studio XPS 16 that has i7 offered as well?
I think that version has a ATI 4670 as an video option as well - which
would be a step up. This laptop admeasurement a above affair for you? Not abiding what the
anatomy factors are for the Lenovos but the Dell 16 is appealing nice and I would guess
the 13 even more so but would trade off on cpu / gpu power.

Not sure of the price difference but I recently purchased a refurbished Precision M6500. I am really impressed with the performance. The refurbished still has the 3 year warrenty at about a third the price.
