We manufacture surface cleaning equipment and are building a trailer to carry the equipment. I am fairly new to designing trailers to DOT and was wondering if there is a particular standard I should be calling out on drawing (just to cover ourselves). The trailers have to meet DOT regulations but looking at the AWS (American Welding Standards) website it's a bit perplexing.
Is there a standard that would be suitable for DOT applications (trailers etc...) with typical mild steel tubing?
