Roll Out View of a Tube

Hi,

Is there a way to see a rolled out view of a tube (like into a planar surface) and designate angles along that roll out? I'm trying to create a fairly complex hole pattern along the OD of the tube and I figured there was a better way to do that than creating a massive number of tangent datum planes at different angles along the OD and creating the hole pattern that way?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Sally

This can be done using Toroidal bend feature. However, please be clear about the design intent. The results are NOT the same when you create holes on a flat sheet & then roll to a cylinder and making holes on a cylinder. In the first method,

Change your modelling technique to use a datum_on_the_fly. That way you can any and all degrees of freedom into the pattern of your choosing and you only need to create one plane.

You might also be better off using a revolved cut drawn on a datum-on-the-fly plane that is normal to the surface of the tube (through the axis) because tangencies sometime have a problem of getting 180
