Copy the surface first and then extend the copied surface using the 'extend' function. You have a range of options for how the extension should be treated (tangent, to planr etc). You can then use this new surface to project your curve on. Was it a projected datum curve to begin with?
You cant extend a cos along the surface curvature. (only tangent to the curve end) However, you can copy the curve, extend it tangently, and then project the "new extended copy curve"back to the surf again...that way it will be "along the sufarce curvature".
(note: the extended curve will only extend "tangent", to its end...so, an arc will not "continue" as an arc... it will be a "straght line extension"...)
or you could use ISDX to create another cos , and set it to be tangent to the first curves end...
