Transfer meta data in STEP files?

Hi,

I amabout to transfera large bulk of Inventor 3D modelsto Pro/E Wildfire 3.0.
In preparation I am reading up on the different formats available, and I see STEP as a strong candidate. I have read on several places on the web that there might be a possibility to transfer meta data, i.e attributes or parameters in the step file. Does anyone have experience with this?

I am hoping to transfer (or map) attributes like article_number, material and so on.

Thanks!

It would be interesting reading. Links?

Can't say so.
You might look at ...
Help

..Pro/Engineer Interface
...Using Pro/Engineer Interface
....About Interface Capabilities
and
...Working with Data Exchange Formats
....STEP

Try, as well, a Help Global Search / Data Exchange; term: attributes.

I'm skeptical* about custom attributes and, then too, the weak link
in the chain will be Autodesk's spotty translation protocol support.

*Under Supported STEP AP203 and AP214 Classes:
"Only geometry exchange between Pro/Engineer and STEP is supported ..."
(applicable WF2)
