I have noticed that when I create an NC assembly (File > New > Assembly > NC Model), assemble the reference model, and then use the Create Stock option in the menu manager to create a workpiece, the resulting part model contains a family table. It usually has seven instances, one being the dimensions based on the dialog box values used to create the workpiece, and then a bunch of what appear to be standard values.
Does anyone know the purpose of this functionality? I just can't see its uses, but I can see how it can overcomplicate PDM issues.
