What do you guys think about this laptop? At $1200, it seems to have the best value compared with Dell XPS and Alienware.

You won't like the WXGA resolution. Try for WSXGA or WUXGA.

Depends on what you want to model, but i would never go with a centrino processor, 512 ram aint enough for large assemblies, Its a gaming video card, and preferably the HD spins at 7700 rpm.
