Pro/Mold Shutoff Surface Question

I am trying to essentially create a shutoff surface.

The surface shape is not wholly important as much as getting a surface that I can use to create the shutoff.

My methodology has been the following process:

1. Bring part into Pro/Mold and create workpiece.

2. CREATE AUTOMATIC parting line.

3. Use parting line to create a small swept surface.

4. Using the above swept surface I can then build upon and create the shutoff surface.

PROBLEMS I'M HAVING WITH ABOVE METHODOLOGY:

a. The parting surface tends to have 'micro' gaps which would need to be filled or manually closed.

b. When doing the sweep, the system says the trajectory is invalid.

BELOW IS A PORTION OF THE MODEL AND THE ARROWS SHOW THE INNER SECTION OF THE CURVE WHICH I'D LIKE TO SWEEP AROUND.
