Flat State Instance Value in Generic

conrat

New member
I appologize up front if there is already a topic covering this. I searched to no avail.

Is there a way to create a relation in the generic of a family table
that pulls in the value from a specific family table instance?

I posted in the sheet metal forum because this is a sheet metal generic
part and I am trying to reference the flat state of the part.

Thanks in advance,

Jim

Just wanted to add this little tidbit.

I have been able to do this by adding a datum evaluate feature.

(insert - datum - evaluate) Someone on this forum previously
helped me with this. But this is a little more trouble than I
would like.

I unbend the part, add the eval feature, then bend it back. I then use the following to access the value:

girth = girth:fid_dims where "girth" is the name of the measurement and "dims" is the name of the eval feature.

This works okay, but requires two regens to update if the part size
changes. It also seems a little more work than it would be if I
could directly access the flat state values.

If anyone knows of another way to do it, I would appreciate it.

Thanks,
