for doing sheetmetal, is it necessary to know the sheetmetal process. some times when we modelling csome parts and do 'unbend', it is not working. since we know only the final shape of the component, each one modelling in different way. comments pl.

would modeling the part in part mode and then converting it to sheetmetal mode, then add rips to the areas that need to unbend help?

To put it in a nut shell, any part that can be hit in a sheetmetal 'Press' without much of 'development work' can be modelled and unbent in Pro/E.
For example, simple bends, tabs etc., But, if you are to create Forms and complex shapes into parts, then it is going to be really different. Again, Pro/E is not an analysis tool and it can't generate a blank for a part with a bunch of form shapes in it.

When it comes to sheetmetal, it does take quite a bit of learning to understand what can be done and what not. If you want some input on that front, you pretty much are asking people to write a book here.
My opinion..
