Wildire2 and Proe2001 share license?

Hello all.

This is probably a stupid question, but here goes.

I have successfully installed and used Wildfire 2.0. I now need to
install Proe2001 and do some work with it. Trying to install 2001 to
use the same FlexLm license server that I use for Wildfire 2.0.

Cant seem to get this to work.

So given a functioning Wildfire and FlexLm server, what is the appropriate procedure to install proe2001 ?

Thanks for any guidance

You should be able to use the same license from Wildfire 2.0 to ProE 2001.

Are you trying to run both versions at the same time, are the versions of ProE on the same machine or over a network

not trying to run them both at same time. and I am attempting to
install both on the same physical machine. My use of these programs is
as a software developer I write protoolkit and probatch programs to
interact with them. Programs typically run in batch mode, would
schedule a job to run at some time, would execute on Wildfire or
proe2001 based on business needs.

Just un-installed and re-installed Proe2001, when doing the re-install
selected the license management and ptc steup (?) options (first 2).
Pointed the license management to look at my current ,valid ptc license
, and the setup found errors in the license, wanted me to change
content.

As this license is from PTC for Wildfire, not too keen on modifying.

So cancelled the install.

What build of WF2? After a certain build, you need to do a license simplification process which may make the license unuseable by 2001. Check the PTC site for more information.

You only need the WF flexlm install. Do not install the license management (flexlm) software for 2001. The single license server can supply licenses from WF3 back to 2001. Only R20 and before need a different flexlm server.

Note that WF2 f000-->m090 is incompatible with the newest flexnet licenseserver. PTC states this in their techdoc TPI 130505

Hi all,

I am not sure about this, but we are currently running 2001 - Build
2002100 and must "simplify" our license before upgrading to WF2.
We can't simplify our license yet, as we are still running ILink3.0,
due to old server hardware. Hopefully in February '06 we will get
the server we were promised and can jump straight to ILink8 and WF2 (or
3 if available)

According to the link, you must be above 2001 - Build 2001440 to simplfiy license.

Hope this helps.

Later,

Jim

Also, If you enable license borrowing in FLexLM (requires new license codes), 2001 will not be able to get a license from that server.
