POINT CLOUD DATA

I KNOWTHAT WE CAN IMPORT POINT CLOUD DATA INTO Pro/ENGINEEER WHICH YOU CAN CONVERT INTO FACET DATA AND DO RE-STYLING. BUT CAN WE GENERATE POINT CLOUD INFORMATION FROM AN EXISTING SOLID MODEL IN PrO/ENGINNER? IS THIS POSSIBLE?

you can pattern points on a plane, and then project them onto the surface, or create curves from a x-section, and then pattern the points along that curve.

but how will you exporrt it as point cloud file i.e .pts file format. Moreover the above method is also going to consume large amount to time.

if u r having a license of REX(REVERSE ENGINEERING EXTENSION) which is
having Pro/CMM THEN i think it is possible to recreate point cloud data
but i don't think it will be useful.

You can easily export an STL file. You might be able to find a way to convert an STL file to a point cloud.
