Design / Drawing Checking

We use Pro/E Wildfire 2.0 for design and drawing creation and I think we are quite up-to-date with this process.

When it comes to checking the drawings we are in the stone age. We use the paper print (with no reference to the CAD model) and some coloured pencils to indicate good or bad on the drawing. Our drawings are very high standard (ASME Y14.100) but I think we should be using the technology we have rather than using the same checking techniques that have been used for the last 100 years.

What is everyone else doing for drawing checking ?

I think you can use some 3-D mark up software for viewing and checking but those software are around $500 to $1000 a seat and maintenance on top of that.

All the companies that I worked for in the past all checked the same way you are now. Some companies didn;t even check any prints, standards out the window.
