Parameter table coumn width

New member
Hi,

is there any possibility in Wildfire 2 to save the column width in the parameters table?

with long parameter names, it is verry uncomfortable to reset the width
every time I open the table. This is exceptionally because the table
has to be closed to regenerate the model and have the changes take
effekt!

So I hope anyone konws a fix!

thx in advance,

Sebastian

Responses:

- Set the column width and save the tree.cfg. Then the next time it goes
wrong, re-load the tree.cfg. We have to reload the tree.cfg so often here
on 2001 that I made mapkey for it.
--- (I set it and save it but the divider position does not save!)

- The line in the tree.cfg is
COLUMN "Info" "Feat #" 3
Have you set the config.pro option mdl_tree_cfg_file to point to it?
---(Yes, Pro/e reads the file as in I get the new column it just never saves
the position of the divider in the tree.cfg file.)

- As far as I know you cannot save the column width. I have had the same
problem.

- I asked a Product Line Manager about this at the recent conference in
Orlando. If I understood correctly, he said the issue is with saving the
column width as a set number of characters vs. the percent of the window
(which they can do now). He hoped that they would be able to save the Model
Tree with column widths set to a specified number of characters in a future
version, but it wasn't likely to be in WF3. He said maybe in WF4.

- The more requests they get for it, the better the odds for priority.

- I have not found a way to automatically move that division line. I have
to manually move it for every window I open.

- You cannot save the position of the divider, although many, many have
wanted to since the creation of the model tree.

I'm sorry, you are refering to the parameters table

can't tell you about WF but in 2001 if you resize the whole table and then move the divider it stays.. even when you switch models

yes, it is about the parameters table.

unfortunately, every time you restart wf2 it will be reset.

in the same session it has some weird bug: if you set the column width
of the first column for example to 12 then the next time the parameter
table is opened the second column has the width of 12 and the fist is
set to the standard 5. If you open the tabel a third time the third
column has the width of 12 and the other ones have 5, and so on, and so
on, and ...

anyone knowing some workaround?

Other than rather annoying, which it would certainly be.

Are you inputting new string values? Or you havethe need to check the value of a existiing value?

I opened an enhancement request because it does not even remember your last settings, it would be nice to have config similar to the model tree to define it so that the dialog box is usable.

Can I suggest that everyone else here files an enhancement request to get it on the list of most requested and have a chance at getting something done about it?

yes, shure I would like to do that request, but how does this work? where do I have to fill out the form?

@wsylvester

thnks for your suggestion, but i have many different parameters in my
models, especially for remote control of my skeletons. so the
parameters have all different and long names. in my case your link wont
do the job for me.
