Flexible Component becomes Supressed

We have an Assembly model with instances. The instance has completely different part (a spring)not shown in the generic.The spring needsto be shown in it's compressed state. When we make it flexible in the instance, the part automatically becomes supressed. Why??????


Can anyone shed some light on this?
