Hi, I'm having a problem.


In very simplyfied case,the problem is asfollow:


The rotor is rolling on the plate along X-Axis. I want to copy the rotor tips on the plate. ( the red curve will be copy on the plate).<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />


Is there any way to do it in Mechanism, for example: by defining a contact point between rotor tip and the plate and map the pathwhen the rotor is rolling.


Is any other way to do it, by ProM

Are you saying you want to the red line to be "un-rolled" so that it
lies on the plate? If this is the case, the line is a helix and so just
a straight line when mapped onto a flat surface. Its maximum X
dimension (as shown on your image) is equal to the arc length between
the rotor tip start point and end point, and the maximum Y dimension
(the horizontal dimension on your image) is the rotor face width.



You could just use a relation in Pro/ to make the line associative.



I'm not sure if I've got your question right, but I hope this helps.

Tanks for your answer. You have right in this case the un-rolled line is straight But as I told "the figure shows a very simplified case"<O:p></O:p>


The real "rotor" is conical and will rotate "roll"around "join point".


The helix (shows in the figure) in "un-rolled" form vill not be a straight.


The helix shows as red in the figure<O:p></O:p>

ive not done this but i beleive it will work.



1) set up ur mechanism with a rack n pinion setup

2) run it

3) mechanism ---> trace curve.

paper part is the rack(table/flat item)

edge = your edge

and select your analysis



send me the files.. :) i would love to test this out.
