Hello people,

I have a problem. Our company is using pro-e to make products. We were asked to display these products online. My question is how can i convert pro-e files (*.asm) to *.fla files that are used in macromedia flash. I checked the other threads but i could not find anything..

Regards,

Niek

i have used VRML in my research ......you can directly convert them to vrml format,

or else if you want to export to 3ds and convert it to flash

regards

Most Flash files available on the web are in fact small "composition" and you will more likely need Flash (the app not the player) to generate those kind of files (ie to make a presentation of a product, add titles and comments, interactivity, etc.).

Within Flash you can import pics or anims of your model via standard image and video formats. Or via a vector format (usually Illustrator or Flash). Apps such as Alias Maya (www.alias.com) or Swift 3D (www.erain.com) can be used to convert 3D models to vector files.

You cannot convert .asm assembly to .fla, because the formats do
different things. Flash files use non-linear timelines, like a
storyboard, with object oriented scripting, etc. Assemblies have
parametric information, tolerancing, etc.

I remember there was something like Pro/Flythrough which exported
videos. If you have the Flash studio, there is also internal Flash
Video which allowed you to import into a movie clip. Any 3d objects
within Flash are likely scripted using third-party components.

Flash will also import a series of images if the filenames have a
numerical series appended to the end; <filename>001.png,
<filename>002.png, etc. I have never tried any animation in
Pro/E so I don't know if it will export a series of images, but that's
how I get my 3DS Max animations into Flash and it works really
well. Dacct mentioned using Maya or Swift 3D which will export
vector graphics. While these files are typically smaller and
scale without loss of quality, they are also typically less detailed
with fewer colors. If you have more detailed questions let me
know and I'll try to help.

Folks, Edrawings is free, runs inside of Pro/E and is really cool to use. Go to PTC.com, CUSOTER RESOURCESand look for the free downloads. You DO NOT need to purchase this. This is really great!

We did this with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra website.
Much of the seating was built in Pro/E and 3d Studio Max. We
exported out of Max using any number of common Flash render utilities.
It basically renders out vector.

I found however in your case it may be best to export a
Pro/E drawing as a PDF and build online docks using Adobe Acrobat. That
has fast become the standard for inner office drawings and online details
drawings for customers. Once you have
PDF you can retrieve that document into Adobe Illustrator for adding tones or
colors. Illustrator makes for easy export
to flash.

We usually export Alias renders to PDF when creating installation
instructions because we are looking for the higher quality. Everything on the TREK website and sales kit
is required to be delivered in Photoshop PSD format complete with all the
layers because they can control colors after the products are rendered out using
Alias Studio. They also require all
their suppliers to deliver the same quality and formats. Trek uses a Solidworks / Alias Studio combo to
create their brochure and online products listings.

I am going to play with edrawings today.
