tomorrow I start RSD if any one was advice, good tutorials or word of sympathy let me know I will be using RSD for electrical routing. from what I can see it's going to be a pain.

Hi,

RSD is a lot less of a pain than you might think. It has some extremely
useful functions for electrical routing and can drive Pro/Cabling with
ease.

Firstly I would suggest checking out the basic tutorial that is in
<loadpoint>/rsdesigner. There are a few other resources in that
directory too.

This forum exists to provide assistance and support for Routed Systems
users as a whole and can help with the link from RSD to Pro/Cabling.

I would also suggest doing a search for RSDesigner on the web - there
are other resources that people have put available on the web.

A new version of RSD (rev 6) is due out in the next couple of months that will make the experience even easier.

They're the best suggestions I can make right now. Stick with it and you'll reap the rewards.

Thanks for the replys

eepgmik what is <loadpoint>/rsdesigner how do i get to it

It looks like just a hand full of companes use the software the way I will

I will no be doing a lot of schematic more harnessin 3D and flat state drawing.

<loadpoint> is where RSDesigner was installed, e.g. c:\program files\rsdesigner

Based on my experience, I would still suggest creating a simple
schematic in RSD for driving cabling because it's easier to update any
connections and then push the data back out to cabling for comparison.

Mr. EEPGMIK, I am not sure you know what you are talking about
smiley2.gif
since it shows you as working for Quintic (in your signature file above)

Look at the ptcuser.org website and into the routed system tech committee and the presentation done in June 2004. it has a step by step for simple RSD designs.

See you in June, Martin!

Good luck!

Pete

I guess I'm confused. If you only want to do 3D cable routing and flattened harness, then why would you use RSD?

RSD isfor schematics only. Pro/CABLING and HARNESS MFG handle the 3D routing and flattened harness drawings. It's probably a better process to do an RSD schematic first, but I know many companies who do not.

Regards, Rick

Iwill by using .dgm files to drive the harness.

RSD I it good at doing seires type routing.

Butparallel routing. You have to brake the wire's up.?

Changes for get it.

Start over.

You can get good fast at this.

I only have a few hours logged in

It's not as hard at I thought. we are using WF2. theres a problem with the menu's they over lap each other. This is a pain.

Thanks for Replys not to many people use RSD
