Losing Oringin in Parasolid File`

Hi all. I'm in the process of reaquainting myself
with ProE, Wildfire to be specific. I have a whole pile of
assemblies (Parasolids) that all have a common origin meant to be used
for mating the assemblies into one giant one. I can open them in
Solidworks (it retains the common origin for some reason), assemble
them per the common origin, then save as steps.... but I'd really
much rather just open and assemble in ProE. Does anyone have any
idea why this origin is disappearing when the files are opened in
ProE? It seems that all the other part origins appear as you
can't even see the assembly when they are turned visible. Just
the one I really need isn't there.

Thanks,

Frank

Just curious here, but did you try and mate them to the default position?

Can you add a point at this common origin in Solid Works and then try mating them in WF?

I didn't try using the default postion. One thing
though that worries me is that tolerances are tight and many of these
parts have overlap. I have no way of knowing if the parts
mated correctly until they get made and don't fit.

Part of the reason I'm trying to get away from solidworks is that at
school, I can run WF off of the Unix main frame. These files are
absolutely huge. As far as we can tell we'd need a duel Xeon with
4 gigs of ram just to get about 75% of it assembled in solidworks on a
PC. The Sun terminals are 64 bit and can hold more memory too.

I should also add that I hit up PTC tech support last week. The
first person bumped me up to a higher level person who said they
*think* there's something in a config file of sorts that is either
turned off, or set such that it is not importing that common
origin. Unfortunately, I'm still waiting to hear back and was
hoping someone here might have some ideas.

Thanks,

Frank
