How long have you been in the business?

I still consider myself a newby with Pro E since I've been working on it for only 5 or 6 months. How long have all of you been in the business? And what industries do you work for? Until I started my project, I had never heard of Pro E before. I was wondering who uses it the most.

I forgot to add, where do you work (just location)? I was wondering if it's just that Pro E isn't popular in my area. I am from the University of California, Irvine.

I've been i the Design/Drafting industry for about 14 years.

Worked in the medical industry for 9 years, the auto industry for the last 5 years.

I've been working on Pro/E for about 14 years and enjoying every moment working with the software.

Work location is Connecticut

Now I cant imagine myself to work design job in any other program than in ProE

I have 8 years of experience

Scientists at Roll Royce built a gun specifically to launch dead chickens

at the windshields of airliners and military jets, all travelling at maximum

velocity.

The idea is to simulate the frequent incidents of collisions with airborne

fowl to test the strength of the windshields.

American engineers heard about the gun and were eager to test it on the

windshields of their new high speed trains. Arrangements were made and a gun

was sent to the American engineers. When the gun was fired, the engineers

stood shocked as the chicken shot out of the barrel, crashed into the

shatterproof shield, smashed it to smithereens, blasted through the control

console, snapped the engineer's back-rest in two and embedded itself in the

back wall of the cabin, like an arrow shot from a bow. The horrified Yanks

sent Rolls Royce the disastrous results of the experiment, along with the

designs of the windshield and begged the British scientists for suggestions.

Rolls Royce responded with a one-line memo:

Defrost the chicken.

but seriously, i have worked with designers/engineers globally and have found good and bad practices/work within most organisations.

Everyone has there own standard. It helps to be comfortable and have confidence in your own ability. With quality comes proffesionalism.

There will always be people that are out of the door when the bell rings, and there will always be people prepared to go the extra mile.

I do not think this changes with cultures/education.

I've been using Pro/E for about 7 years. Mostly contract work. It sure would be nice to have a real full time job.

PS to Bobson.

Can't use frozen chickens - thawed or otherwise. Reason being that Tyson chickens are not representative (ie have no blood and guts).

The practice is to kill real, live chickens immediately before the test..

I don't know if this will help, but have you tried the jobs section on this site?

to bobson, interesting joke, but is there any validity in that practice at all?

They always perform two bird strike tests (CAA/FAA requirements) on engines:

1) Bird ingestion - 1.5 lb bird directly into the fan.

2) 5/6 birds (not sure of weight) fired at the side of the nacelle to simulate flying into a flock of birds.

Some people are real loaded with holes (I think they simple need much more sex).

Maybe they are simply trying to reinvent a hole on the
