hi all

how will it be if we are able to relate dimensions of parts which are not involved in a assembly but needs relationship.i have a solution too for it but let me find wether it will be useful to u all.

Sounds like:

external copy-geom

or

Pro/Notebook (layouts)

or

External merge (reference)

or

UDFs (2 parts tied to same UDF)

There are other methods also.

if its available can u help me in detail

for ex i have a nut

i have a bolt

i dont have assembly

how can i link the values of dia of nut and dia of bolt

kindly rely

Refer to the online help for more detail, but here is a thumbnail for doing this type of thing with layouts:

1) Create a layout (i.e. hardware_dims.lay)

2) Create a parameter in this layout to hold the diameter value (i.e. DIA)

3) open both parts and declare the layout to the parts (Declare/Declare Lay)

4) Create a relation in the part to drive the diameter dimension with the newly inherited parameter (i.e. d7=DIA)
