Solid Works 07 via Parallels on MBP

I was eager to switch to Mac and bought an early 2008 Macbook Pro (not the unibody), 2.6GHz, 250GB SSD, 6GB RAM and nVidia Geforce 8600M GT with 256MB of GDDR3 SDRAM.
The two things I needed to continue to run in Windows XP were MS Office Groove and Solid Works 2007 SP0.
Groove runs fine, but Solid Works is so slow, it is impossible to work with it. I have designated both processors, 3GB of RAM and all 256MB of SDRAM to the Virtual Machine in Parallels (4.0) and when I try to click on a feature to highlight it or get a dimension, it takes about 3-4 seconds to respond.
I imagine on a machine of this caliper, something can't be right.
Also, I can't seem to configure the mouse middle button within the virtual machine under XP. Does this need to be done from the Mac side?
Any help and inside is greatly appreciated. If I don't figure this out soon, I will be lost to Apple...
