Backup of Assembly and components.

Hi guys,

Im from a proe background, using Solidworks for the first time. Im not finding the transition to be too painfull to be honest.

In proe there is the backup function, were if you backup an assembly it would create a copy of the assembly and all components into a working directory.

Is there a similar funtion in solidworks?

The project Im working on needs some housekeeping on it :)

Thanks,

Max.

Max,

There are two options in sw2007+

1. File, Find References, Copy Files.

2. Pack an Go.

The first option is the older option, you can find it in most versions of Solidworks.

The second option is new, it's for the folks that couldn't figure out how to use the 1st option. lol.

These take all parts, sub assemblies, assemblies and place them into a desired directory.

Good luck,

Hello,

Yes there exists a solution, CustomTools, a SolidWorks gold Partner. In the CustomTools 2009 editions, there is a tool called Custom Copy, which allows SolidWorks users to copy there assemblies and all parts and drawing connected to it.

The tools is very useful, as it allows user to save a considerable amount of time, new codes can be generated as well when copying the Assemblies, or any other files.
