New Desktop

I am running SW07 sp4.0 on a laptop and am thinking about switching to a desktop.


I'd like to find out what desktop you guys are using. I was looking at the Dell Precision 490 or 690. Any tips?


my current system:


windows XP pro, sp2


Dell Precision m90


T2300 @1.66GHz


1.66GHz, 2.00 GB of RAM


(some of this doesn't mean much to me...)

I am currently running on the following:


DELL PWS670


XP PRO, 4G RAM, XEON 3.4GH PROCESSOR, ATI FIREGL V3100, 1G NET CARD





A buddy of mine just the the 690 with the 64x system, 8g RAM. It's real fast.

If you want to take advantage of the photorealistic real-time shading of Realview, then check into the Nvidia Quadro line of video cards. Once you have seen it, it is very hard to go back to working with plain shading!
