It WAS a free online parts library of commonly used parts. I know - the version of Solidworks I have (Office Pro) already has this in the form of the Toolbox. But you can download in other cad formats like 2d dxf. Let's say you want to make a custom part. You can go here and download a 2d dxf or dwg of a common part that is close to what you need. Then import that into Solidworks as a sketch and you might get a head start on creating that part.


Solidworks 2007 was the last version they created a version for. 2008 is incompatible. The company states that Solidworks keeps changing the API code structure so much and so often that it is no longer profitable to keep up
