part view alignment

Gps!

New member
I am making a drawing (2D) from an assembly.

The assembly is projected as a dimetric view, on the drawing sheet.

The part are added to the same drawing sheet.

It works fine, but I have one problems.

There are some angles and plates in the assembly. When I insert the parts, to the drawing, to add dimensions, some partsare under an angle.

Normally on a drawing youmake one side of the angle profle horizontal. (the longest side) How do I do this in solidworks ?

(rotate the "sketch" in a drawing view to have a differentsidealingned with the X axes.)|

I made with a paint a picture to explain my problem.

A is what I get, B is what I want. http://www.xs4all.nl/~jamathi/aero.gif

Right click in the view > click "Pan-Zoom-Rotate" > Click "Rotate View"

Enter new view angle and click apply.

Thanks that worked, but

Isn't there a way were I select a line and tell solidworks to make that horizontal (or vertical)

Now I have to fiddle, with the angle, I needed a angle of 7.45 degrees. That doesn't sound like the right way to do it.

I don't know about defining a horizontal line... You may be able to place an angular dimension in the pre-rotated view.

Why is it rotated to begin with? Is it a projected view?

views can be saved in the "model" mode then loaded into the drawing.

simply, in the model, move the view the way you want to see it, then save the view as a new view and insert it into the drawing.

I did not make the 3D model.

Some of the parts I took from the assembly seem to remeber the angle they have in the assembly.

its an accropode. http://www.wes.army.mil/REMR/bulls/vol12/no1/images/dolos.gi f

Its made out of concrete, and the assembly is for the mould. The mould is made from plates welded together. The drawing I am making, has all the plates dimentioned. Some of the parts appear on the drawing not horizontal nor vertical, but seem to have the angle from the assembly.

I will try the "model" mode, aproach.
