Help with linear array!

I am trying to create a steel wire mesh/grid on solidworks. I have drawn and extruded a circle to make a rod and now want to create a linear array of this in order to make half of the mesh. I have drawn a centreline on one end face of the rod in the direction i want the array to follow and selected the extrude as the object but get the following error message:"Some feature instances are disjoint and will not be created. Use the Bodies option to mirror/pattern distinct bodies."
I have no idea how to resolve this, can anyone help please?

You need to select the"rod" in the "Bodies to Pattern" box of the Feature Manager while creating the Linear Pattern.
