problem creating new model

i have installed a copy of solidworks 2006, and i am having some problems. I am trying to create a new model. When i hit the new button, nothing happens. Also, when i hit the open bottom and try to open one of the sample models, nothing happens. Any ideas?? I'm thinking that i have the license or program installed incorrectly.

I don't have a clue. It has been about 2 months - have you solved this yet? How?

no i haven't solved it. I kind of gave up on it. It wasn't for work or anything, i was just trying to learn something new. If you or anyone else should come across the answer, i would still like to get into solid works.
