Opening files from other softwares

Hello users,

Could someone give me some assistance with opening files from other softwares such as .stp, .dwg,. ipt, .sldprt and so on? I tried to open a .dwg file but wasn't able to view it, just a typical blackPro-E drawing screen.

Thanks for your help.......

The best way to open a .dwg in pro is to start a new drawing. Then ... INSERT>SHARED DATA>FROM FILE. Pick the drawing file and Pro will ask you 2 questions.

1. Drawing is smaller than format. Scale to fit format? Answer NO.

2. Move bottom left corner of drawing to screen origin? Answer YES.

If your screen is still blank then the drawing may be drawn in mm so you will have to zoom out to see it.

Step files just start a new part. INSERT>SHARED DATA>FROM FILE.

Pro will not read a sldprt as systems can not read other systems native parts. You would have to find a 3rd party software to translate it for you.

Hope this helps.
