references from other part in the assy

Hello,

I need your help on how to select the references from the other part in the assembly when editing one part (active).

Regards,

You should be able to select anything visible. The only thing that would prevent your selecting other parts in an assy is config settings that prevent external references. I'm not veryfamiliar with them, but search for options with 'scope' in the name.

That said, just because you can, doesn't make is a good practice. Referencing other parts without solid plan can create a tangled web of external refs that can make future modification very cumbersome.

It depends let us know how u have been utilized the external reference. is it topdown or bottom up assembly.

dan,

ideally, if you have the modules [AAX], you should define the features you will use in the part or assembly as published geometry first. Then you can choose that as the item to copy while in activate mode.

it is much easier to select such a predefined feature than to hope you got the references and surfaces right in the assembly.

If that is not an option, then make sure the references you select are the ones you want. you can confirm that later by checking the global references for the assembly

cheers,

M
