Next Engine 3D Scanner

Hi

Has anybody used a Next Engine 3D Scanner with Pro? From there website it all integrates rather nicely with Solidworks....anyway I'd be interested to know what you think about it...particularly using it with Pro/E

Thanks in advance

Ben

I'm using it with Pro/E and the REX module.

The scanner works quite nice considering its price tag.

You have to experiment a lot with it (powdering to avoid reflections to get good measurements, ...) in order to get reasonable results.

I have used it with the software provided (Next Engine ScanStudio) which works quite nice.

You can do some basic manipulations like smoothing, ... within ScanStudio. You can export the models to stl so you can import it in another CAD system. You could e.g. import into Blender3D (www.blender3D.org) which is opensource and free and do some manipulations there before exporting it again to STL and importing it in ProE.

Best regards,

John
