How to extract Neutral axis/Surface?

Hai dear,

This is Raj. Pl help me to extract the neutral surface/axis from a sheetmetal component.

When bending operation is carried out the neutral fibre of the sheetmetal will move towards the inner radius of the component. How to extract this?

As I understand, what you need is a blank development.

Two ways of doing it...

1. Insert > Flat pattern....(select a surface to be fixed)... This is good for viewing and measuring of distances during the design process. Any feature added after this command, is automatically pushed up.

2. Edit > Setup>sheetmetal>Flat state>Create>Fully formed.....This method creates a family part in the flat state. you can insert this part during drawing creation.

Or if shell mesh creation is the objective ...

Or setting up sheetmetal bend parameters?

Tip:
When someone has a question it's better to explain what they
want to do; the objective, rather than, or in conjunction with,
trying to explain what they think they know.

jeff4236 is right.

The shifting of the NA is dependent on the material used. The "K" factor can be set either by entering a value or setting it to one of the THREE tables provided by PTC (which incidently is taken from Machinery's Handbook)

Sheet metal design being different from regular solid modeling, it would do well for thesheetmetal designers to read thru the pro/Sheetmetal help (which is quite good) and study the Die Design Handbook andsuch other reference books.
