Need Help Unbending sheetmetal Part

chapa7

New member
I need help unbending this part in sheetmetal. I don't get any errors
other than Feature aborted. It is a 2000i part I've also tried it in
Wildfire 2.0. I also just created it using sheetmetal wall with a
blend. Datum curves are on a hidden layer Datum_Curves. Please help if
you can.

Thanks,

Mike

Setting the config.pro option mesh_spline_surf Yes shows (in wireframe) that this is considered a spline surface by proe = can not be unbent. Closest thing would be to use"flatten quilt" or to try re-modelling and avoid the spline surfaces (design-intent out the window? ).

Darek,

I don't have WF 3.0 installed. Is there anyway that I could do it in 2000i. Also could you explain how you did it in WF 3.0.

Thanks for all your help.

Mike

Well Darek,

I've tried once again. I can not even get the two walls to merge. How
about WF2.0 I have a machine that has WF2.0 loaded that I can get to.
Could you maybe export the flat file in step or something so that I can
see the flat pattern.

Thanks again for all your help,

Regards,

Mike

You might see if you can work something like this
into the big picture. I'd probably trim the quilt
before mirroring.

One thing worth note that you might not notice;
model accuracy. It's set to .001" absolute (what
I normally use). The flat pattern failed at your
2E-4 relative (approx 1E-4 abs).

Use Analysis -> Shaded Curvature -> Guassian Curvature
to test for compound curvature. A developable surface
equals 0.
