WF 3.0 64bit Crashing

New member
I have just installed WF 3.0 64bit and the 3d models & assemblies work great, but when I open a 2d drawing then it crashes. I have checked my config file & it is the same as the one I used on the other computer.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Mike

What are your computer spec?

It could be graphic card driver problem. Also try to open other drawings and see if the same happened, and open part/asm of those drawing that cause ProE to crash, maybe is problem in this part/asm not in drawing.

Thanks for the reply.

Everything works but my 2d formats. I tried to just open the 2d formats I have been using for the last year & it crashes right away. I have the ATI FireGL V7200 graphics card.. It has me confused. It opens my part & assembly files great.

Well, modelling is typically OpenGL function calls while drafting is not. That might explain the difference and indeed point to video drivers.

Personally I think 64-bit is not mature at all. The hardware part of things is probably OK but the rest isn't. All device drivers have to be adapted. You know how many versions it takes before they get more or less stable. The operating system has to be adapted. And you know how many years it has taken Windows to make something only giving an occasional BSOD and not 5 times a day.

If you don't really need 64-bit, that is : when you don't have big assemblies or huge parts that ask for memory space in excess of 3 GB, I'd throw WinXP back on and stick to 32-bit on a 64-bit machine. That at least is proven stable. You wouldn't be the first one taking a step back. There is hardly a speed issue in that, if you look into specialised reading.

Thanks for the reply.

Before I ordered the new computer I checked with PTC's website & everything was certified. I think Iwill try and have them figure it out.

I am sure if this would help. But I would test the 2d problem bysetting the graphics mode in the config.pro to win32_gdi

Thanks guys,

I have the latest driver for xp64. I didn't contact them but I got the latest one from their website. I contacted PTC but they couldn't figure it out. they have submitted the problem to development. I don't think they will figure it out any time soon.

I have just heard back from PTC & there is a problem with the Datecode M030. They are aware of it & it will be fixed on datecode M040 which will be available on 10/02/06.

Thanks
