Mouse speeds

I had that problem with a Logitech Mouse Man Dual Optical running off the USB port. I updated to driver version 9.79 and it solved the problem.

On some mice there is an option in the control panels to slow down the mouse in a "game". The mouse driver thinks that Pro/E is a game. I have helped people get this turned off before. It is an option that says something about gaming. If I had one close by I would document the steps for you... but that was at my old work. Look around for it in the control panel.

Hey all,

I found this TPI report in the PTC support knowledge base that may be of some relevance to this issue. The first report of this case was in Pro/Engineer 2000i, but it seems, as of yet, no Pro/Engineer release has addressed this issue specifically since then. The TPI report is #107876 and is posted below:

Additional Information

Description

-----------------

Pro/ENGINEER rotates/pans/zooms slowly or with a "choppy" display when
using the CTRL key and mouse while the mouse cursor is within the
Pro/ENGINEER main window, but not when the cursor is outside the main
window, on a Windows 2000 Workstation with a Diamond Fire GL 1 graphics
card.

Alternate Technique

-----------------

See Resolution Below.

Resolution

-----------------

This issue is related to the Microsoft Mouse setting "Enable Pointer
Shadow" in Window 2000. The "shadowing" affect used on the mouse is
software accelerated while Pro/ENGINEER graphics are hardware
accelerated (using the graphics card). Using the mouse within the
Pro/ENGINEER main window causes the Pro/ENGINEER graphics display to be
software accelerated.

This can be avoided by disabling the pointer shading for the mouse. On
the workstation, select #Start #Settings #Control Panel and then open
the mouse properties dialog windows. On the 'Pointer' tab, uncheck the
'Enable Pointer Shadow'.

This may apply to more graphics cards than just the Fire GL 1. Hope this helps.

The otion that is causing the problem is only in the logitech driver. It has nothing to do with Pro/E or windows XP. In fact the first time I encountered the problem was on a Windows 2000 machine woth Pro/e 2001. Like I say it is easy to fix you just have to find that little check box.
