Developed lg for other than 90 deg bend

Rajesh

New member
A new bend table is created and it gives the correct developed length for a 90 degree bend. But for other bend angles the developed length is more than the actual values. How to rectify it? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Rajesh S

I would like to know the relationship of the developed length of a 90 deg. bend against the 45 deg bend. The other factors remain the same.

You solve those using Y and K factors. Your machinery handbook
should aid you as you choose apropriate numbers. Ambiant
room temperature actually has much to do with the calculations or
coming up with the Y and K factors.

To arrive at your own Y and K factors for the material that you use, take a pre-determined length of blank say 100 x 25 mm (accurately measured). Bend with a measurable bend radius to 90 deg. now measure the leg lengths, angle and the achieved bend radius. Work backward to arrive at the constants.

You may also refer to Pro/Engineer help where in the method of calculation of the blank size is explained.
